Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 10, 2021

I’m the H. D. September behind HDSeptember.com and I value your privacy.

If you have concerns, please notify me on the contact form on my website. The only information I store on this site is information that you provide freely.

Comments

To allow for discussion, you have the opportunity to post comments on this website. The information collected includes your name, email address, IP address, and your comments. If you ever wish to have your comments removed, send me a quick note and I’ll remove them.

To protect my site from spam, your information is compared with a list of known spam senders by CleanTalk. CleanTalk only stores your information for a few days to give me time to contest its decision as to whether or not you are a spammer.  (God forbid!)

Sadly, there are many people who would love to fill any website with spam comments and my site is no exception. I use CleanTalk to provide anti-spam services and, as such, your comment information will be sent to them for the sole purpose of checking it for spam. If you are concerned with their processing of your data, I would advise you not to leave comments.

Newsletters

I collect email addresses when you subscribe, either from the subscription form or by checking to be added to the list from a comment or message form. This allows me to send you infrequent updates about what is going on in my world. Want to be removed from this list? Click unsubscribe at the bottom of any newsletter. My newsletter subscriptions are handled internally on my website. Aside from CleanTalk and my security software, no one sees your information.

Contact Form

My contact form requests your name, email address, and message that you wish to send me. Your IP address is also captured by the system. This information is checked for spam as noted above and then transmitted to me via email. It is not stored on my website. During that transmission, the data will be sent through normal email channels.

Analytics

Google and other search engines track website visitors. This is something that happens whenever you use the internet. If you do not want to be tracked, please consider using a private browser window. The information that these search engines store is not traceable to one individual and so is very generic in nature. I do not store this information, however, I do occasionally look at it so that I can tell what people are searching for when they come to my site. This helps me provide more relevant content.

I’m using Google Analytics to learn why people are visiting my site. How did you come to be here? Why are you here? Do you like me? Scary, but Google knows these things. I figure, I might as well look at the information.

Use of Cookies

I use cookies on this Site to personalize the Site. A cookie is a small text file that is placed on your hard disk by a Web page server. Cookies cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer. Cookies are uniquely assigned to you, and can only be read by a Web server in the domain that issued the cookie to you. One of the primary purposes of cookies is to provide a convenience feature to save you time. For example, if you personalize a web page, or navigate within a site, a cookie helps the site to recall your specific information on subsequent visits. This simplifies the process of delivering relevant content, eases site navigation, and so on. When you return to that particular web site, the information you previously provided can be retrieved, so you can easily use the site’s features that you customized.

You have the ability to accept or decline cookies. If you choose to decline cookies, you may not be able to fully experience the interactive features of this or other web sites you visit.

Children

The forms on this site are not intended to be used by anyone under the age of 16 without parental consent – because we love kids and they deserve to be protected!

A Note to International Users

This Site is hosted and owned in the United States. By providing your information to this Site, you are consenting to the transfer of your information to the United States for processing and maintenance in accordance with this Privacy Notice. You are also consenting to the application of United States law in all matters concerning this Site.

Changes to this Statement

I may occasionally update this privacy statement. When I do, I will also revise the “last updated” date at the top of the privacy statement. I encourage you to periodically review this privacy statement to stay informed about how I am helping to protect the personal information I collect. Your continued use of the service constitutes your agreement to this privacy statement and any updates.

In Addition

My Site is protected by SSL which ensures that everything sent to or from my server is encrypted. I also work with a GDPR compliant company, WordFence, to ensure that my website is protected from outside attack. Visitor information from my site is shared with WordFence so that, like CleanTalk, they may screen out the attackers. They do not store individually identifiable information, however they do store generalized data to help track attacks world-wide.

This website occasionally covers topics considered sensitive in certain regions of the world, including gender, religion, and politics. Considering that everything posted on the internet is public information, please do not post anything that, should you travel or communicate with someone abroad, would place anyone in danger.
